Unraveling the Mysteries of Glass & Mirror


Course Goals

This course is designed to give builders, contractors, and designers a deeper understanding of how glass and mirror fit into residential and commercial projects. The goal is to move beyond surface-level product knowledge and equip participants with the insight to plan, design, and install glass correctly the first time. By the end, attendees will know the right questions to ask, common pitfalls to avoid, and how glass details can elevate both functionality and design.


Presentation Description

Through a combination of technical education, real-world project examples, and video demonstrations, this presentation walks participants through the lifecycle of glass — from how it’s made, to how it’s fabricated, and finally, how it’s installed in showers, mirrors, and specialty applications. The session highlights both framed and frameless systems, explores common mistakes in design and installation, and provides practical takeaways for ensuring long-lasting, high-quality results.


About the Presenter: 

Chris Van Pelt began his career with M&M Glass Company 24 years ago, working his way through nearly every aspect of the business before becoming the owner. His hands-on experience gives him a unique, well-rounded perspective on the glass industry. Today, as owner of M&M Glass, Chris leads a team that specializes in custom showers, mirrors, and specialty glass projects across South Louisiana.
Beyond his role at M&M, Chris has been an active and dedicated member of the home building industry for more than 15 years. His commitment to excellence and innovation has earned him recognition as a trusted voice in both the glass trade and the broader homebuilding community.
